The publisher
Possumtree Publishing is an independent publisher based in Leiden, the Netherlands. We publish practical, accessible non-fiction — books for real life, written to be used, not just read.
Leon A. Murray founded Possumtree Publishing in Leiden, where he researches, writes, edits and publishes non-fiction. A former tradesman from Australia, he is widely travelled and experienced — a background that taught him what a working person actually needs from a tool: it has to do the job, and it must not waste their time. He has worked with AI hands-on since it became part of daily life, teaching himself and building it into his own publishing operation.
Every Possumtree book is produced through a careful pipeline: research, structure, writing, fact-checking, and review — so what reaches the reader is checked, factual, and genuinely useful.
Our approach
Practical first
Every title is written to be used — clear steps, real examples, no unnecessary padding. If a book does not help you do something tomorrow, it has not done its job.
Fact-checked
Every statistic and claim is checked against its source before it ships. We would rather cut a number than publish one we cannot verify.
For real people
We do not talk down to readers or bury them in theory. We meet them where they are and help them take the next step — one skill at a time.
AI-assisted, human-owned
AI is a tool in our workshop, used daily — but the judgment, the writing voice, and the decisions are human.

The name
The possum is a survivor — adaptable, resourceful, and far more capable than people give it credit for. That is the spirit we bring to publishing. And our possum mascot — curled up under the stars with a good book — is the reminder of why we do this: knowledge, read quietly, changes a life.
